Here's a mandala I created a while back. I have altered it somewhat in PHotoshop.
It's actually supposed to be two five-pointed stars intertwined with one another like a Celtic knot.
Whaddaya think?

Mandala (Sanskrit for "circle" or "completion") supposedly comes from a Sanskrit root meaning "enclosing the essence."
Wikipedia states that "In practice, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the universe from the human perspective."
A mandala, especially its center, can be used during meditation as an object for focusing attention. The symmetrical geometric shapes tend to draw the attention towards their center.
Some of my mandalas are created with an eye toward their symmetry. Many of them have some special meaning for me. Many of them I create simply for the joy of it.
